Managing Director, Australian Community Media and Printing

Allen Williams

In December 2017, Allen took on responsibilities as Managing Director, Australian Community Media and Printing. Before this, he was Managing Director, Australian Publishing Media since April 2013. He has extensive media management experience in Australia and overseas. Prior to joining Fairfax Media New Zealand as CEO in 2009, he led a number of company's operations across rural, regional and metropolitan markets in Australia and the United States. He returned to the company in 2007 following the Rural Press Limited merger with Fairfax Media. 

Across his career he has worked at News Limited, Australian Consolidated Press and The Asher Joel Media Group. Allen currently represents Fairfax Media as a Director of Australian Associated Press.



Chief Financial Officer, Australian Community Media and Printing

Renee Duffy

Renee was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Australian Community Media in November 2017. Renee brings a wealth of experience in regional and metropolitan publishing and has 15 years’ experience in financials and operations in the media industry.

The roles Renee has undertaken since has provided her with extensive cross functional leadership across commercial, content, brand, digital and operations.

Since joining ACM Renee has led a successful finance transformation internally and externally with outsourced partners as well as responsible for transformation and agile projects across the business, transforming regional, agriculture and community platforms for a sustainable future.

Emphasised in Renee’s approach is innovation (shining a light on the future) and capability (enhancing the core skills of people), towards the ultimate goal of being an extension of the business, authentic, trusted and credible.

Renee is a member of the Certified Practising Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Business degree - Studying in Accounting and Law. Renee is a mentor in the Fairfax Mentor program and is also affiliated with external programs focusing on Finance and Transformational Leadership.



Editorial Director, Australian Community Media

Rod Quinn

Rod edited Fairfax daily newspapers for more than 10 years before taking up the position of ACM editorial director. He began his career at the Newcastle Herald in 1987 and covered industrial relations before working as a financial wire service correspondent, a sub-editor and community newspaper editor.

Rod had a key role in the implementation of the first pagination system at the Newcastle Herald and oversaw the editorial side of the paper’s switch from broadsheet to tabloid in 1998.

Rod was appointed editor of the Herald in 2003. He moved to The Canberra Times as editor in 2009 and led the masthead when it adopted an audience-first digital publishing strategy and launched its successful iPad app.

Rod became editor-in-chief of The Canberra Times in 2012 and later combined this role with the position of editorial production services director, responsible for editorial production across Australia and New Zealand. Rod has been ACM editorial director since October 2014.



National Sales Director, Australian Community Media

Penny Kaleta

Penny is an award winning authentic and intuitive leader, who is able to deliver strategic sales plans, align sales team with historical with current knowledge and turn it into growth

With more than 25 years’ sales and leadership experience within metro, regional and community markets, both in the UK and Australia. 

Joining Fairfax Media in 2005 and in 2007 launching one of Fairfax most successful brands Traveller , and then holding key leadership positions across multiple business units and played a key role in assisting in the biggest culture and process change in regional media division. 

Penny's hard work and dedication has been recognized through awards and achievements :

Local Sales Director, Australian Community Media

Sharon Fitter

In 2017 Sharon Fitter was appointed Local Sales Director of Australian Community Media having only been with the company for 12 months as Sales Capability leader. Sharon is responsible for achievement of both print and digital direct sales across 160 Australian mastheads.

Sharon is an established business leader, mentor and coach with a diverse range of skills including Sales leadership, operations, enablement and capability. Sharon has also worked across Career Management as a qualified Executive Coach. Sharon’s coaching accreditations are with Marshall Goldsmith (stakeholder centred coaching) , ICEL and ICF.

Sharon has over 19 years management experience and 3 years consulting experience, holding both frontline and executive leadership positions.

Since joining ACM Sharon has created and implemented the Universal Way which is the ACM selling philosophy, implemented a measurable coaching model, implemented and designed Gap Planning strategy to drive conversion. Sharon has proven success in enabling outcomes and behavioural change that are sustainable in today’s diverse corporate sales environments.


Digital Director, Australian Community Media

Jason King

Jason King was appointed Digital Director of Australian Community Media in February 2017.  Jason's current role is responsible for overall delivery of the ACM digital, F​airfax Marketing Services and content revenue strategies, as well as new adjacent revenue opportunities.

Jason​'s​ career in media commenced ​18 years ago at The Newcastle Herald as Direct Advertising Sales Representative. He then progressed ​to ​Advertising Manager of Newcastle Newspapers, Sales Manager of Drive at The Sydney Morning Herald and then General Manager of the Central Coast Sun Weekly.

Jason returned to Newcastle as Group Advertising Manager in 2008, and was appointed General Manager of ​The Newcastle Herald in February 2013 ​and then led Newcastle-Hunter and New England operating groups through the ACM transformation project before move to his current role.



Technology & Product Director, Australian Community Media

Stephen Hopkin

Stephen Hopkin is the Technology & Product Director of Australian Community Media and Printing.  Stephen manages all the technology requirements from the internal hardware, software, application support, project management teams right through to the software development of websites. He is also responsible for the Product team that works alongside the Technology team to put ideas into Technology solutions.

Stephen understands the valuable needs of the customer and the user experience. His customer driven focus enables Technology solutions and ensures that ACM systems are maintained and support the needs of all customers.

Throughout his 20 year tenure with Fairfax Stephen has worked across all areas of the business in a variety of roles. Prior to joining Information Technology in 2005 Stephen commenced his career in the Printing side of the business.

Stephen has an electrical engineering and information technology background.



Agriculture Director, Australian Community Media

John Warlter

John Warlters is Australian Community Media’s Head of Agricultural Publishing with responsibility for the company's national network of agricultural businesses - State-based agricultural weekly publications and websites, and an events team that stages the nation's largest rural field days - AgQuip at in Gunnedah, NSW, and Farmfest in Toowoomba, Queensland.

Before stepping into the role in 2017, John was Qld/NT/North Coast NSW Business Manager helping lead and oversee the transition of our operations in these important markets.

John’s career started as a cadet journalist at the Glen Innes Examiner before working in Armidale, Ipswich and Ormiston. Experience in rural and regional markets has given John an affinity for our readers and an understanding of the issues that impact them.

John has previously overseen Fairfax Media’s Queensland agricultural assets headlined by the“bible of the bush” – Queensland Country Life, specialist niche publications Good Fruit and Vegetables and Australian Cotton and Grain Outlook along with the company’s Mount Isa‐based regional daily The North West Star.

John has deep connections in agribusiness throughout Queensland and is familiar with rural and regional markets across Northern Australia.
